In Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU)’s first participation in the national competition, the five projects selected from the Guangxi regional competition competed with determination and ultimately won three first prizes, one second prize, and one third prize. The number and level of awards ranked among the top participating universities in Guangxi, and the university also received the “Outstanding Organization Award.”

Hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the China TRIZ College Students Innovation Methods Competition is the most authoritative and widely participated national college student sci-tech innovation competition in China for promoting TRIZ innovation methods. TRIZ, or the “Theory of Inventive Problem Solving,” is a systematic innovation methodology widely used by enterprises around the world. This year’s competition attracted more than 200 universities from 21 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China, with 3,571 entries submitted and 534 teams advancing to the finals. A total of 71 first prizes, 156 second prizes, and 295 third prizes were awarded, and 50 institutions received the title of “Outstanding Organization Unit.”

Led and hosted by the science and technology association system, the competition is highly valued in the industrial sector. The talent cultivated through vocational education is directly oriented toward enterprise positions. If students master transferable and reusable innovation methods and prove their abilities by winning awards in national competitions, these are precisely the qualities welcomed by employers. With this in mind, LZPU’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship actively encouraged teachers and students across the university to participate in the competition.

In the teacher group, “Construction and Practice of a ‘Four-Stage Progressive’ Innovation Method Education Ecosystem in Higher Vocational Education,” a work by Liu Jing, Dean of LZPU’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won a national first prize. “AI Agent-Empowered Standardized Refinement of TRIZ Competition Entries,” a work by Wu Liping, a teacher from the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won a national second prize. In the student group, “Innovative Design of a New Energy Motor NVH Intelligent Test Bench Based on TRIZ Theory,” a student project guided by Hu Yibo and Huang Yiman from the School of Electronic Information Engineering, and “Innovative Design and Application of a Front Suspension Component Assembly Line Based on the Integration of Multiple TRIZ Methods,” a project guided by Lu Yuanfang and Jiao Fei from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, won first prizes in the student group. “Design and Application of a Machine Tool Spindle Fault Early-Warning System Based on TRIZ Theory,” a student project guided by Mo Qiaoliang and Shi Qi from the School of Electronic Information Engineering, won a third prize in the student group.

Since the competition notice was issued, the university has attached great importance to the event. The School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship carried out broad mobilization and supported three rounds of selection and project refinement from the university-level competition to the provincial competition and then to the national competition. The Liuzhou Innovation Methods Institute provided multiple rounds of project guidance through popularization training, intensive training, one-on-one coaching, and other forms. During the holiday, teachers and students gave up their rest time, repeatedly discussed and verified their projects in the training rooms, continued to optimize them, and polished and rehearsed their presentations again and again, all to present their best performance on the national stage. At the finals, the LZPU teams responded calmly and completed their presentations and Q&A sessions with composure, demonstrating a solid foundation in innovation theory and strong practical R&D capabilities.

In the future, LZPU will continue to deepen its “four-stage progressive” education system of “awareness building, method mastery, project practice, and achievement transformation,” cultivating more high-quality technical and skilled talent who understand principles, master methods, dare to innovate, and are capable of implementation.
