Graduation Ceremony for the China-Indonesia AI General Education Joint Development Project Teacher Training and Certification (Batch 1) Successfully Held at LZPU
From News Center (Text by Li Chuang, School of Electronic Information Engineering; Photo by Kong Qingshi, School of Electronic Information Engineering) On August 15, the Graduation Ceremony for the China-Indonesia AI General Education Joint Development Project Teacher Training and Certification (Batch 1) was held at Guantang Campus, Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU). Qiu Fuming, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC LZPU Committee and Vice President of LZPU, representatives of Chinese partner institutions, and representatives of relevant Indonesian departments and industry organizations attended the event. The completion of the first batch marked the successful conclusion of the first cross-border AI teacher training initiative. The project has successfully developed a standardized, systematic, and long-term China-Indonesia vocational education cooperation model, laying a solid foundation for the in-depth coordinated development of AI vocational education in both countries.
Qiu Fuming said that the successful conclusion of the first training program marked a new starting point for China-Indonesia collaborative innovation in vocational education. He noted that LZPU will continue to uphold the cooperation philosophy of joint development, shared benefits, and local adaptation, continue to provide remote teaching and research support for AI education in Indonesia, and actively explore a replicable new paradigm for ASEAN-oriented AI vocational education cooperation, helping Guangxi build itself into a hub for vocational education opening-up. He also encouraged the participating Indonesian teachers to flexibly apply the outcomes of the training and empower the development of local AI education.
Chen Kai, chief trainer of the Chinese team, affirmed the learning outcomes of all participants and encouraged them to take root in local vocational education and become pioneers and promoters for AI education in Indonesia. Andri Kurniawan, representative of the Indonesian participants, thanked the Chinese side for its dedicated instruction and thoughtful support. He said the training effectively addressed his gaps in AI teaching, adding that he would apply what he had learned in local classrooms and help improve and upgrade AI vocational education in Indonesia, and looked forward to the continued deepening of vocational education cooperation between the two countries.
To consolidate the training outcomes and establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, the Chinese and Indonesian sides also unveiled a joint cross-border teacher workshop at the Graduation Ceremony. The workshop integrates the strengths of Chinese backbone teachers, enterprise technical experts, and core Indonesian teaching and research teams. Focusing on the three major functions of joint course development, joint case research, and joint teacher training, it will build a regular exchange platform for online teaching and research and offline training, and continue to promote the alignment of teaching standards, textbook updates, and course iteration between the two countries. In the follow-up stage, the project team will release official course standards and teacher certification standards, develop bilingual textbooks and high-quality online courses, improve the full set of training resources, and gradually carry out pilot promotion in several Indonesian vocational institutions, continuously expanding the influence of China’s vocational education standards across ASEAN.
It is learned that the training is closely aligned with Indonesia’s needs for industrial upgrading and the local development of vocational education and has built a modular, practice-oriented, and comprehensive training system for AI vocational education. The training focused on five core modules: curriculum system development, AIGC applications, core AI technologies, teaching organization methods, and AI ethics and safety, while systematically introducing frontier technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, and intelligent agent development. Adopting an integrated teaching model combining theoretical instruction, practical training, discussion and exchange, and enterprise-based study, the training program organized participants to visit enterprises such as SAIC-GM-Wuling and UBTECH for on-site study, while adhering to the practice-oriented approach of “teaching AI with AI.” After two weeks of intensive training, all participating Indonesian teachers successfully completed all learning and assessment tasks, achieving comprehensive improvement in AI technology application and classroom teaching capabilities.
The project innovatively established a two-level teacher certification system featuring layered progression and step-by-step advancement, forming a replicable and promotable ASEAN-oriented assessment model for AI teacher training. The system consists of two advanced levels: course instructors and trainers, implementing a training mechanism of “certified teaching first, followed by trainer selection from outstanding candidates.” Course instructor certification adopts an integrated assessment model of “theory + practice + teaching design defense,” comprehensively evaluating teachers’ theoretical foundation in AI, practical abilities, and capacity to apply teaching in real classroom settings. The advanced trainer certification, designed for outstanding participants, raises the difficulty of assessment and adds a trial teaching defense component, with a focus on evaluating higher-level teaching and research capabilities such as course optimization, problem diagnosis, and teacher guidance. It accurately meets Indonesia’s needs for local AI teacher pipeline development and has successfully built a closed loop for cross-border vocational education cooperation featuring systematic training, tiered certification, localized resources, regular teaching and research, and long-term promotion.
Looking ahead, the Chinese and Indonesian sides will continue to deepen cooperation in joint teacher training, course iteration, pilot promotion, and other areas, further improve the AI vocational education cooperation system, provide long-term support for the local development of AI education in Indonesia, and, with vocational education cooperation as a bond, contribute to building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.
